Rory McElroy roared out of the gates at the U.S. Open golf championship Thursday and seizes the first round lead after shooting a six under par 65 at the Congressional Golf and Country Club in Maryland.

Former Gator Brian Gay shoots a one over par 73 and fellow Gator Camilo Villegas shoots a first round 77. Phil Mickelson is way off the pace too after shooting a 74.
