Gator Men's Hoops Tops UAB

Gator senior point guard Erving Walker scores a team high 23 points to lead the 13th ranked Gator men’s basketball team to a 79-61 win over Alabama Birmingham Tuesday night in Gainesville.

Florida is now 12-3 on the year and prepares to start SEC play on the road Saturday at Tennessee. UAB falls to 5-8 under coach Mike Davis.

Junior guard Kenny Boynton added 20 points and center Patric Young threw down 15 for the Gators in the win.

Walker was on target all night, hitting 7 of 9 shots from long distance as the Gators as a team shot a blistering 55 percent from beyond the arc, hitting 15 of 27 attempts.

On a down note, the Gators were outrebounded and UAB was able to grab 19 offensive rebounds, something coach Billy Donovan says the team is still working to improve at as the season progresses.
