Two Area Girls Basketball Teams At State; Boys In Regionals Too

The PK Yonge and Newberry girls basketball teams are in action today at the State Tournament, looking to win a state title.  

Newberry has played its state semifinal game and beaten Hilliard 49-45 to advance to the Class 1A state final.   PK Yonge faces Melbourne Central Catholic tonight at 7pm in Lakeland.  Buchholz is also trying for a state title but it will play later in the week.

Meanwhile boys basketball continues tonight with regional play.   In Class 1A, Region 2, Hawthorne hosts Hamilton County, Chiefland travels to Wildwood and Union County hosts The Villages.   In Class 4A, Region 2, Williston faces Mount Dora; and in Class 6A, Region 2, Gainesville High travels to play Leesburg and in Class 5A, Region 2, Eastside hosts North Marion.
