Gators Men’s Basketball At Vandy Tonight

The Gators men’s basketball team tries to bounce back from a poor road performance at Georgia Saturday tonight as it travels to face the Vanderbilt Commodores.   You can hear live coverage of the game starting at 8:25pm on WRUF Sports Radio 850.

Both teams do a nice job on the offensive end but both have also had their troubles on the defensive end at times this season.   Vandy has two of the best scorers in the league in guard John Jenkins and small forward Jeffery Taylor and Taylor burned Florida for 25 points in a Commodore loss to the Gators in Gainesville earlier this year.

In that game, Florida was in serious first half foul trouble but hung on and went on to win.   In this game, Florida once again plays without forward Will Yeguete who is out for the season and was sorely missed in the loss to Georgia on Saturday.

The Gators did not have a good shooting day against a pretty solid Georgia defensive unit and Vandy is not a particularly good defensive team.   However, it is Vandy’s senior night and the Commodores will try to duplicate Georgia’s good shooting day against Florida when the Bulldogs shot 53 percent in their win over the Gators on Saturday.

Florida faces a tough stretch to end the season as it will end its regular season with a home game Sunday against number one Kentucky.
