Gator Softball Opens SEC Schedule; Sports News And Notes

** The 19-1 Gator softball team opens SEC play today when it travels to play Mississippi State.   Florida will play without catcher Brittany Schutte for an indefinite time after she suffered an injury to her face last weekend.

** The Indianapolis Colts are going to formally announce today they are releasing popular veteran quarterback Peyton Manning who has spent his entire career with the Colts.   Management reportedly wants to go in a new younger direction and draft quarterback Andrew Luck and with a big amount of money due to Manning ownership has decided to release him according to numerous reports.

** Ten players have been chosen to enter the College Basketball Hall of Fame including center Patrick Ewing, guard Earl Monroe, center Willis Reed, coach Joe B. Hall of Kentucky and guard Phil Ford of North Carolina.
