The SEC men’s basketball tournament kicks off today in New Orleans with four games on tap.

Fifth seed Alabama faces 12 seed South Carolina with the winner of that game facing Florida tomorrow.   LSU and Arkansas will open tournament play with the night games finding Ole Miss facing Auburn and Mississippi State taking on Georgia.

Florida, Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Kentucky all earned first round byes by finishing in the top four in the league during the regular season and they will all play tomorrow.

Most believe Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Florida and Alabama are in the NCAA Tournament field to be announced on Sunday.   Mississippi State is a bubble team as is Tennessee and a strong run in this tournament might get them in the NCAA Tournament.
