An NBA coach resigns, Gator lacrosse gets a win and an SEC team goes down in the NIT as those stories head up our Thursday Sports News And Notes…

** In the NBA, New York Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni has resigned amid many stories saying he had lost his team in the locker room.    Right after, the Knicks went out and destroyed the Portland Trailblazers under interim coach Mike Woodson.

** The Gator lacrosse team downs Stony Brook 17-4 on Wednesday.   Florida is now 7-2 on the year.

** The Florida women’s tennis team beats Duke 5-0 Wednesday at home in a match that was much closer than the score would indicate.   The Gators have now won 102 straight matches at home.

** Another SEC team is beaten in the NIT as Ole Miss loses to Illinois State in overtime.   Of the four teams from the SEC in the NIT, only Tennessee won its first game.

** And the NFL continues its free agency run as several teams make roster moves.   The Dallas Cowboys sign quarterback Kyle Orton while Jacksonville re-signs defensive end and former Gator Jeremy Mincey to a four year contract.   The Kansas City Chiefs sign former Cleveland running back Peyton Hillis while the Oakland Raiders release former Gator offensive lineman Cooper Carlisle.   The San Diego Chargers sign linebacker Jarrett Johnson to a multi year deal; he had played with Baltimore.
