** The Baylor Bears women’s basketball team becomes the first NCAA Division I basketball team to go 40-0 after beating Notre Dame 80-61 Tuesday to win the national title. Center Brittney Griner came up big again, scoring 26 points and grabbing 13 rebounds to give coach Kim Mulkey her second national title with Baylor.
** The Major League Baseball regular season begins today…again…as the Miami Marlins take on defending World Series champion St.Louis. It is the only regular season game scheduled for today. A few days ago in Japan, Oakland and Seattle split two games that do count in regular season standings.
** The Miami Heat down the Philadelphia 76ers 99-93 as LeBron James scores a season high 41 points while the Orlando Magic lose at Detroit 102-95 as three Magic starters did not play because of injury.
** Former Gator Percy Harvin announces he will need shoulder surgery. The Minnesota Vikings wide receiver did not specify what shoulder would be worked on but the injury is said to be minor in nature.
