Gators Backhand The Gamecocks to Finish Regular Season

The 10th-ranked Florida Gators Men’s Tennis team ended their regular season strong with a 6-1 win over South Carolina this past Saturday in Gainesville. The Gators dropped the doubles point to the Gamecocks but were able to sweep all 6 singles matches to take the win.

The Gators earned the No. 4 seed heading into postseason play and will travel to Starkville, Mississippi for the 2012 SEC Tournament hosted by Mississippi State this weekend. Florida head coach Andy Jackson says his team must stay focused in order to win…

Even with a tough schedule, Florida finished its season at 14-8 and 7-4 in the SEC. The team has shown great improvement over the season and Jackson says he thinks his team has an intensity which will help them into the postseason…

Junior Tripper Carleton started his first season at UF this past Fall after transferring from Wake Forest. He posted a 7-3 record in singles action and had five straight wins to start his Gators career. However, Carleton says he’s feeling more confident in his play at this point in the season…

Last weekend, Carleton came in at No. 2 in singles action defeating South Carolina’s Nick Jones 7-6 and 6-4.  But despite recent success, Carleton says he has room for improvement after a rough start at UF…

The Gators certainly have a lot to prepare for if they want to defend their SEC title heading into the postseason. The SEC Tournament begins Thursday, April 19th in Starkville. Florida will have a bye in the first round and start tournament play on Friday, April 20th.
