Next season, the University of Kentucky basketball starting five is going to look a lot different. This season’s starting lineup, which consisted of three freshman and two sophomores, all declared for the NBA draft Tuesday in a nationally televised news conference.
Freshmen Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, and Marquis Teague, and sophomores Terrence Jones and Doron Lamb, decided they will test the waters of the NBA next year after winning a college national championship this year.
With the starting five and seniors Darius Miller and Eloy Vargas also leaving, only sophomore to be Kyle Wiltjer remains from the rotation of this season. Wiltjer will be getting help soon, as head coach John Calipari has secured his fourth straight number one recruiting class and more could still be added to it.
The Wildcats will rely heavily on the incoming class, because the departure means the Cats lose 93.3 percent of their points, 94.5 percent of their individual rebounds and 96.2 percent of their assists.
