Field For College World Series Now Set

The field for this year’s College World Series is now set after Super Regional play was completed yesterday.

South Carolina beat Oklahoma 5-1 to get to the World Series to defend a title it has won two years running.   The Gamecocks will open the CWS with a game against Florida.  That game will take place Saturday night in Omaha at 9pm eastern time.

Also in Florida’s side of the bracket are Arkansas and Kent State; the Razorbacks get in with an extra inning 1-0 win against Baylor to win the Waco Super Regional.   And Kent State goes to the CWS for the first time in school history after edging Oregon 3-2 to win the Super Regional there.

The other side of the CWS bracket has Arizona, UCLA, Florida State and upstart Stony Brook, an upset winner over LSU in the Baton Rouge Super Regional.
