The U.S. Open Tennis championship has a women’s champion, the NASCAR “regular season” is through and more in our Monday Sports News And Notes…

** Serena Williams has won the women’s singles title at the U.S. Open tennis championship as she beats Victoria Azarenka in three sets.   The men’s title will be decided today.

** The NASCAR regular season is over and now the Chase For The Cup begins after Clint Bowyer wins a race at Richmond.   The top ten are now set and Jeff Gordon sneaks in tenth, beating out Kyle Busch by just three points.

** The Gator football team moves up to 18th in the AP Top 25 college football poll this week after beating Texas A&M; UF is 17th in the Coaches Poll.

** Florida football will be again on ESPN’s College GameDay for the second straight week as it travels to Knoxville to face Tennessee.
