The Tampa Bay Rays fall four games behind American League East leaders Baltimore and New York after losing 3-2 in 14 innings to the Orioles on Thursday as the O’s complete a series sweep.
New York keeps pace with a 2-0 win over Boston. This weekend, Tampa Bay hosts the Yankees while Baltimore travels to play Oakland. The A’s lost to Los Angeles 6-0 but still have a one game wild card lead over the Yanks and Orioles.
In other AL games Thursday, Toronto beats Seattle 8-3; Minnesota tops Kansas City 4-3; and Cleveland beats Texas 5-4 as the Rangers lead over the A’s in the AL West sits at three games. Texas will host Seattle this weekend.
In the National League, St.Louis gets a 2-1 win over Los Angeles to give the Cardinals a two game second wild card spot lead over LA. Houston beat Philadelphia 6-4 to snap Philly’s seven game win streak.
Atlanta leads the wild card chase and they will host NL East leader Washington. Other contending teams are Philadelphia, who will be at Houston; Pittsburgh, who will visit Chicago; and Milwaukee, as the Brewers host the Mets.
