Tigers Keep Pace With White Sox In AL Central Race

The Chicago White Sox still lead the American League Central division by a game over the Detroit Tigers after action Monday night.

Chicago beats Cleveland 5-4 but the Tigers keep pace with a 6-2 win over Kansas City behind Justin Verlander who wins his 16th game.   New York now leads the AL East by a game and a half over Baltimore after the Yanks beat Minnesota 6-3 while Baltimore aplits a doubleheader with Toronto.  

Texas downs Oakland 6-4 to open a five game lead over the A’s in the AL Central.   The wild card race is extremely tight, with the Orioles leading the A’s by a half game.

In the National League, Washington downs Milwaukee 12-2 to reduce its magic number for winning the NL East to five.   St.Louis gets a key win, downing Houston 6-1 to increase its second wild card lead to three and a half games over idle Los Angeles.
