** The Houston Texans move to 5-0 on the season after beating the New York Jets on the road 23-17 on Monday Night Football. The Texans and the Atlanta Falcons are the only two unbeaten teams left in the NFL. The Jets fall to 2-3 on the season.
** Former Gator safety Will Hill has been suspended by the NFL for four games for violating the league’s policy on performance enhancing drugs.
** Georgia Tech has fired defensive coordinator Al Groh in a staff shakeup.
** Some area high school football teams are ranked in the new poll released Monday. Gainesville High School is still ranked number one in Class 6A after a win last weekend. The Canes are unbeaten and play Buchholz Friday. Columbia County is ranked sixth. In Class 1A, Trenton is ranked number one with Union County number two and Dixie County number five.
