Tigers And Giants Advance In MLB Postseason Play

The Divisional rounds of the Major League Baseball postseason continue but two teams have now advanced to the Championship Series in their respective leagues.

In the American League, Justin Verlander throws a complete game as Detroit stops Oakland 6-0 to advance to the American League Championship Series.   The Tigers will play either New York or Baltimore after the Orioles beat the Yankees 2-1 in 13 innings to force a deciding Game 5 today in the ALDS.

In the National League, San Francisco moves on to the NLCS after beating Cincinnati 6-3 yesterday.   The Giants were beaten twice at home but roared back to sweep the Reds on the road to advance.   They’ll play either Washington or St.Louis in the NLCS after Jayson Werth hit a walk off homer to lift the Nationals to a 2-1 win over the Cardinals to force a deciding Game 5 in their NLDS today.
