Giants Even NLCS; ALCS Resumes Tonight In Major League Baseball

The San Francisco Giants even the National League Championship Series at one game each after beating the St.Louis Cardinals 7-1 Monday night in San Francisco.

With the game tied at 1-1, the Giants scored four runs in the fourth inning to chase starter Chris Carpenter and make a winner out of starter Ryan Vogelsong who pitched seven strong innings.   The series now shifts to St.Louis for Game 3 tomorrow.

Meantime the American League Championship Series resumes tonight in Detroit where the Tigers have a 2-0 lead over the struggling New York Yankees, and to make matters worse for New York, Tiger ace Justin Verlander takes the mound tonight.

New York hasn’t hit anything and it has lost star shortstop Derek Jeter for the season with a bad ankle.
