SEC Roundup Week Eight

[BY: Hannah Oliveto]

As we get to the heart of the SEC schedule a lot of big match ups going on in conference this weekend.

The number two Gator Football team is facing the number seven ranked South Carolina Gamecocks in the Swamp Saturday. This game is a huge SEC Eastern Division showdown and Gator head Coach Will Muschamp says South Carolina and Florida are alike.

The Gators are 6-0 and 5-0 in SEC play.

Saturday will mark USC head coach Steve Spurrier’s fourth time coaching on the opposing sideline.  Spurrier coached the Gators for 12 seasons and won the Heisman Trophy at Florida in 1966. Spurrier talks about how to win the game against his former team.

The Kentucky Wildcats are hosting the 11th ranked Georgia Bulldogs Saturday. Kentucky is facing its first winless SEC season since 2000 while Georgia is coming off a bye week and will be looking for redemption after losing to South Carolina two weeks ago.

Georgia head coach Mark Richt talks about handling the rest of the season.

Another big conference match up for first year SEC team Texas A&M will be when the Aggies host LSU.  LSU’s strong defense will have to handle Texas A&M’s high-scoring offense lead by quarterback Johnny Manziel.

LSU head coach Les Miles says they are facing a tough game.

Other SEC games to check out for this weekend include Alabama at Tennessee, Auburn going on the road to Vanderbilt, and Mississippi Sate hosting Middle Tennessee.
