The Detroit Tigers are going to the World Series after beating the New York Yankees 8-1 Thursday to complete a sweep of the American League Championship Series.
Detroit’s starting pitching held the Yankees to a 0.66 earned run average; only the 1966 Baltimore Orioles’ 0.61 ERA against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series is lower. In this game, the Tigers got two run homers from Miguel Cabrera and Jhonny Peralta in a four run fourth inning to put the game away.
In the National League Championship Series, St.Louis takes a commanding 3-1 lead over the San Francisco Giants with an 8-3 win. Adam Wainwright pitched seven solid innings and the Cardinals supported him with a 12 hit attack.
Game 5 is tonight in St.Louis as Lance Lynn faces lefty Barry Zito for San Francisco.
