NFL, College And High School Football; Baseball Too In Sports News And Notes…

There will be plenty of football to go around today, plus some baseball news and more in our Thursday Sports News And Notes…

** Lots of football today, starting with local high school football as Buchholz hosts Ocala West Port tonight at Citizen’s Field.   If BHS wins, it wraps up a state playoff berth.  In college tonight, Virginia Tech is at Miami and in the NFL the Kansas City Chiefs visit the San Diego Chargers.  You can catch the VT/Miami game right here on ESPN Radio 850/900 starting at 6:30 PM, imediately following The Cheap Seats.

** Lots of baseball news today.   Closer Rafael Soriano has opted out of his contract with the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay picks up options on pitchers James Shields and Fernando Rodney and catcher Jose Molina but declines one on DH Luke Scott.

** The Santa Fe Saints basketball teams open their seasons with home games today.   The men are coming off a national top ten finish but lost almost all of that team while the women return a lot of talent from a 10-20 team a year ago.

** The Gators men’s basketball team has an exhibition game against Nebraska-Kearney tonight; you can hear the game live on our sister station Country 103-7 The Gator starting at 6:50 PM.
