Price And Dickey Win Cy Youngs; Local Prep Football Playoff Game; Thursday Sports News And Notes…

The Cy Young Award winners have been announced in baseball, a local high school football team is hosting a playoff game tonight and Tim Tebow is  back in the news in our Thursday Sports News And Notes…

** Tampa Bay lefty David Price and New York Mets righty R.A. Dickey have been named the Cy Young Award winners for 2012.   Price edges out Detroit’s Justin Verlander for the award by just four points in one of the closest votes on record.   Dickey beat last year’s winner, Clayton Kershaw, by a wide margin.

** The Eastside Rams football team hosts a state playoff game tonight at Citizens Field when it takes on Anclote High School.   The Rams were district champions but are only 5-5 on the season while the Sharks have won six straight games after starting 0-4.

** Tim Tebow is back in the news after the New York Daily News published some quotes not said on the record by Jets players and officials, calling Tebow “terrible” and saying he is not a quarterback but a “wildcat guy.”   Jets coach Rex Ryan said Tebow was never brought in to be the starting quarterback.

** Gator football coach Will Muschamp said quarterback Jeff Driskel will not play this week against Jacksonville State because of his injured ankle.   He also said during the SEC Teleconference Wednesday that Andre Debose, Neiron Ball and Pop Saunders would miss the game because of injuries.

** Tonight, NFL football as the Miami Dolphins face the Buffalo Bills and in college football, North Carolina faces Virginia.
