** Brad Keselowski is the new Chase For The Cup champion in NASCAR.   Keselowski wins the Sprint Cup championship, beating out five time winner Jimmie Johnson after the final race of the year yesterday in Florida.

** The Gator men’s basketball team moves to 3-0 after beating Middle Tennessee State 66-45 Sunday in Tampa.   Senior guard Kenny Boynton scores 20 to lead the Gators as Will Yeguete adds 11 points and 13 rebounds.   The game also marked the return of guard Scottie Wilbekin to the team after he served a suspension for breaking unspecified team rules.   The Gators host Savannah State Tuesday.

** The Gator women’s basketball team tries to bounce back from a loss at FSU last week when it hosts North Florida at 7pm.

** Tennessee has fired football coach Derek Dooley after the Vols lost at Vanderbilt on Saturday.   Under Dooley, the Vols were 15-21 and only 4-19 in the SEC.   He will not coach the team in their final game against another fired coach, Joker Phillips, and his Kentucky Wildcats.

** The Gator football team has another verbal commitment in its 2013 when junior college defensive tackle Darious Cummings pulls the trigger after visiting UF this weekend.   He had been verbally committed to Ole Miss; he attends East Mississippi Community College.
