Another School Joins Big 10; Former Gators Cut In Sports News And Notes

Another school officially joins the Big 10, a couple of former Gator baseball players are cut or reassigned and more in our Wednesday Sports News And Notes…

** Rutgers has officially announced it will leave the Big East and join the Big 10; Maryland made the same announcement Monday as it will leave the ACC to join the Big 10 as well.   The moves become effective in 2014.

** Cal has fired long time football coach Jeff Tedford after a 3-9 season.  He won 82 games in 11 seasons at the school.

** Former Gator baseball players Matt LaPorta and Ryan Raburn are moving.   LaPorta was sent directly to the minor leagues by the Cleveland Indians while the Detroit Tigers outright release Rayburn.

** Top ten ranked North Carolina was upset by Butler last night in college hoops 82-71.
