** This time of year, there are usually a lot of coaching changes in college football and that is the case this year. Reports out of Tampa say USF coach Skip Holtz will be fired after a school worst 3-9 season. Dave Doeren accepted a job offer from NC State after leading Northern Illinois to a BCS bowl berth; he will not coach the team in its bowl game.
** New BCS standings are out and Florida moves up one spot to number three, right behind Alabama and Notre Dame who will play for the national title. Florida plays Louisville in the Sugar Bowl. Oregon and Kansas State are four and five and will play each other in the Fiesta Bowl.
** Bowl berths have been handed out, and here’s the SEC rundown…Vanderbilt plays December 31 in the Music City Bowl against NC State and LSU plays in the Chick fil-A Bowl against Clemson. On January 1, Mississippi State faces Northwestern in the Gator Bowl; Georgia takes on Nebraska in the Capital One Bowl; South Carolina plays Michigan in the Outback Bowl. On Friday January 4th Texas A&M faces Oklahoma in the Cotton Bowl; and on January 5 Ole Miss plays Pittsburgh in the BBVA Compass Bowl.
** Monday Night Football tonight has the NY Giants at Washington in a key NFC East game.
