Gator Volleyball Takes On Texas In NCAA Round Of 16

The Florida volleyball team travels to Texas to take on the third seeded Longhorns Friday in the round of 16 of the NCAA Tournament.  Gator head coach Mary Wise says her team is taking the same approach in preparation for the Austin Regional as they have all season long.

The Big 12 champion Longhorns are 25-4 overall. Wise says Florida will try to imitate Texas’ dynamic playing style in practice.

The Gators met Texas earlier in the season in the Nike Big Four Classic at Penn State. The Longhorns swept Florida in three close sets but Wise says both teams have improved over the course of the season.

However, Wise expects the atmosphere to be a lot tougher in Austin than in the previous meeting at a neutral site.

If the Gators advance, they will face the winner of the Wichita State vs. Southern California match. You can catch all the Gator volleyball action live on ESPN Radio 850/900 starting at 7:50pm on Friday.
