** The Miami Heat and the Orlando Magic both lose to a couple of the NBA’s worst teams on Friday; Miami loses 109-99 to Detroit while Washington breaks an eight game losing streak with a 105-97 win over the Magic,
** Lots going on in New Orleans, including UF playing in the Sugar Bowl in a few days, but the natives got good news when the New Orleans Saints reached an agreement on a contract extension for head coach Sean Payton.
** Five more college bowl games on tap for today including the Alamo Bowl where Texas faces Oregon State and the Pinstripe Bowl where Syracuse takes on West Virginia. The Fight Hunger, Armed Forces and Buffalo Wild Wings are the other bowl games being played today.
** In a wasted season for the Jacksonville Jaguars, running back Maurice Jones-Drew, who barely played because of a holdout and then a foot injury, will now have surgery on the injured foot.
