The University of Florida announced that Gator defensive coordinator Dan Quinn has accepted the same position with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks. Quinn coached the defensive line with the Seahawks for two seasons before accepting the job with UF as defensive coordinator.
The NFL is not a new experience for Quinn; along with the Seahawks he has also coached with the New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, and San Fransisco 49ers as a defensive line coach. Quinn is replacing Gus Bradley who was today named the Jacksonville Jaguars head coach.
Meanwhile Gator coach Will Muschamp moved quickly to fill Quinn’s position and didn’t go far to do it as staff member D.J. Durkin will be Florida’s new defensive coordinator. He will continue to coach linebackers as well.
Muschamp is scheduled to speak to the media on Friday and will no doubt elaborate on the developments of today.
