Another close loss for the Florida women’s basketball team, an NFL retirement, recruiting news and more in our Friday Sports News And Notes…

** The Florida women’s basketball team loses its fifth straight SEC game after dropping a 69-64 decision at Missouri last night.   Florida is now 2-6 in SEC play and will host Alabama Sunday.

** Veteran Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver has retired.   The 37 year old holds numerous Packer receiving records.

** 25 year old  Caleb Moore died after being injured during the X Games last week in a snowmobiling accident.

** The final big college football recruiting weekend is this weekend and we’ll see if Florida can add to its 26 verbal commitments in the 2013 class.   National Signing Day is Wednesday.

** A full slate of SEC men’s basketball this weekend as Auburn is at Missouri; Georgia visits South Carolina; LSU is at Mississippi State; Kentucky visits Texas A&M; Tennessee is at Arkansas and Alabama is at Vanderbilt.
