Boys High School Basketball Districts Start Tonight

District tournaments begin tonight in boys high school basketball all throughout our area.

Buchholz High School enters districts with an 8-12 record and is the fourth seed and faces top seed Ocala Forest tonight at 7.   Bobcats head coach Bob Hordowski talks about the upcoming matchup.

Gainesville High School faces two seed Ocala Vanguard tonight in the District 5-6A tournament. GHS has won five state titles in its history and enters with a record of 17-8 and 5-3 within the district. Canes coach Kelly Beckham lead the Purple Hurricanes to a 5-A state title back in the 2008-2009 season; he previews the matchup tonight.

MaxPreps has GHS rated as the 97th best basketball school in Florida.

The Eastside Rams are 7-14 on the season and went 2-2 against district opponents. The Rams enter the District 6-5A tournament as the two seed facing three seed North Marion tonight. Eastside head coach Herman “Pop” Williams talks about what his team needs to do to get a victory tonight.

Eastside has beaten North Marion twice this season.

Many of the district tournaments will continue either later this week or this weekend.
