Another big night for LeBron James, lots of high school girls regional play and more SEC men's basketball in our Wednesday Sports News and Notes…

** Lots of girls regional high school basketball games played in our area last night with several schools advancing. In Class 7A, Region 1, Buchholz advanced with a 63-59 win over Fleming Island. In Class 6A, Region 2, Gainesville High topped Leesburg 71-56. In Class 1A,-Region 4, Newberry advanced with a 51-23 win over Crescent City. Ocala Trinity Catholic also advanced in Class 4A, Region 2.

** Another huge night for LeBron James as he threw down 30 points as the Miami Heat beat Portland 117-104.

** In SEC men's hoops, Alabama slowed down Georgia 52-45 to improve to 8-3 in SEC play while Georgia fell to 6-5 in the league. Several more league games will be played tonight.

** The International Olympic Committee has decided to drop wresting from the Summer Olympic Games starting in 2020.

** Four Alabama football players arrested recently have been suspended by coach Nick Saban.

** The Gator baseball season opens Friday and SEC coaches have tabbed the Gators to finish second in the SEC East behind Vanderbilt. Coaches picked Arkansas to win the SEC West and to win the overall SEC title.
