High School Boys Basketball Regional Semifinal Preview

Several high school boy’s basketball regional semifinals take place Tuesday night in our area.

Class 6A, Region 2

The Gainesville Purple Hurricanes (19-9) will be traveling to take on the Leesburg Yellow Jackets (26-4). Leesburg enters the game ranked No. 1 by MaxPreps.com. GHS head coach Kelly Beckham has high praise for the Yellow Jackets.

The winner of tonight’s game will travel to Orlando Edgewater or Palm Bay Heritage in the regional finals on Saturday.

Class 5A, Region 2

The Palatka Panthers (24-4) are hosting the Eastside Rams (13-15). The Rams will be looking to reach their second straight regional final. The winner will travel to Brooksville to either take on Nature Coast or host Eustis.

Class 4A, Region 1

The Williston Red Devils (22-7) are hosting the Fort White Indians (14-5). The Red Devils will be looking for their fifth straight trip to the regional finals. Williston would play at Orlando Lake Highland Prep or Satellite, Fort White would do the same.

Class 3A, Region 1

The St. Francis Wolves (23-5) are traveling to face off against the Daytona Beach Father Lopez Green Wave (26-2). Wolves head coach Brian Shea talked about the Green Waves success.

St. Francis would host Jacksonville Providence or Jacksonville Trinity Christian. Father Lopez would do the same.

Class 1A, Region 4

The Union County Tigers (15-12) are traveling to take The Villages (17-10).

All the games start at 7 p.m.
