** The Miami Heat get a layup from LeBron James to nip the Orlando Magic 97-96 Wednesday to win their 16th straight game.
** The Chicago Black Hawks extend their NHL record for points scored to start a season with a 3-2 win over Colorado; the Black Hawks have a point now in their first 24 games.
** The Gator softball team improves to 23-1 with a huge 8-4 win at previously unbeaten and number one ranked Alabama Wednesday. The game does not count in the SEC standings; UF will open SEC play at Auburn this weekend.
** The Gator women’s tennis team knocks off FSU 4-0 to improve to 8-2 on the year.
** The Gator women’s basketball team plays in the SEC Tournament today; the ninth seeded Gators face eight seed Arkansas, a team it beat earlier in the year.
** In men’s hoops, Tennessee keeps its NCAA Tournament hopes alive by beating Auburn 82-75 Wednesday. In other action, South Carolina downs Mississippi State 79-72 and LSU tops Texas A&M 68-57; Florida’s next opponent, Kentucky, faces Georgia tonight.
** Two top ten men’s college hoops teams lose on Wednesday; Georgetown falls to Villanova 67-57 and Miami loses at home on a buzzer tip in to Georgia Tech 71-69.
