** University of Florida defensive line coach Bryant Young has resigned. In a statement released late Wednesday, Young said he wanted to spend more time with his family.
** The Masters starts today, and current Gator golfer T.J. Vogel is in the field as an amateur. Former UF golfer Brian Gay is also in the field.
** The Atlanta Braves are off to a National League best 8-1 start after beating Miami 8-0. The Tampa Bay Rays blanked Texas 2-0.
** Santa Fe College basketball player Bobby Hunter is the school’s first player to be named to the All-American First Team. Hunter finished second in the nation in scoring at 25.2 points per game.
** The Gator men’s basketball team finished ninth in the final USA Today Top 25 poll. UF was the only SEC team ranked.
** The Miami Heat have clinched home court advantage throughout the NBA playoffs after beating the Washington Wizards 103-98.
