** About 300 fans went to the O’Connell Center Monday night to celebrate the Gator gymnastics team winning its first national title this past weekend in Los Angeles. Gymnasts and coach Rhonda Faehn were honored.
** The Gator lacrosse team will be the top seed for the upcoming American Lacrosse Conference tournament that will take place the first weekend of May hosted by Johns Hopkins University.
** Matt Moore becomes the first pitcher in Tampa Bay Rays history to win his first four starts of the season as the Rays beat the New York Yankees 5-1 Monday night. Atlanta and Miami had their games postponed because of weather.
** Former Gator David Lee is out for the playoffs after suffering an injury in Golden State’s opening game of the NBA playoffs. Chicago’s Joakim Noah returned to action after being sidelined with an injury.
** The Miami Heat plays Game 2 of its playoff series with Milwaukee tonight in Miami; the Heat are up 1-0.
** Honchos of the BCS are holding meetings this week to determine the format for a playoff and the site for a championship game, among other things.
