ESPN has reported this morning that the New York Jets have released Tim Tebow. The move comes just three days after the team drafted West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith with the 39th overall pick in the NFL draft.
Last season with the Jets, Tebow had just 40 touches on the year and appeared in 12 games. He threw just eight times, completing six passes for 39 yards and 0 touchdowns. Tebow carried the ball 32 times for 102 yards on the season as well.
The future for Tebow now looks murky. Another NFL team could sign him as a free agent, or some suggest he could move to another position to get a better shot at making a team. Others believe he should go to Canada to play quarterback in the CFL to hone his skills for a possible return to the NFL.
