Gator Baseball Opens Series, Thursday Sports News And Notes…

The Gator baseball team opens a big road series in SEC play, the NBA playoffs continue and not so good news for the “local” MLB teams in our Thursday Sports News and Notes…

** The Gator baseball team opens a crucial three game series with nationally ranked LSU tonight.   UF has just nine SEC contests left and the Gators sit 12-9 in conference play.

** In the NBA playoffs, Houston knocks off Oklahoma City 107-100 but still trail 3-2 in the series; same goes for Boston as it beats New York 92-86.  Indiana crushes Atlanta 106-83 to go up 3-2 in their series.

** In MLB action, all of the “local” teams went down to defeat.   Tampa Bay lost at Kansas City 9-8; Miami was beaten by New York 7-6 and Washington breaks a dry spell against Atlanta with a 2-0 win.   In addition, former Gator player Ryan Raburn is off to a torrid start with Cleveland; he and the Indians blanked Philadelphia 6-0 last night.
