Gators Baseball Travels To Baton Rouge To Take On LSU

The Florida Gators (25-20, 12-9 SEC) are on the road again as they head to the Bayou to take on Louisiana State University(40-6, 16-5 SEC) in a three game series starting Thursday at 7:30. LSU is No.2 in the SEC with a .307 team batting average and the Gators are No. 9 in the conference with a .271 team batting average. Gators head coach Kevin O’Sullivan says there’s only a few players that have played in Alex Box Stadium and they are going to be playing in a great environment with a great team.

Freshman Richie Martin says he’s heard how intense the atmosphere is going to be from other players.

The Gators suffered a 4-2 loss on Sunday to SEC foe Tennessee but claimed the series after winning Friday and Saturday. Gators Catcher Taylor Gushue says the team isn’t giving up.

The Tigers are coming off of a 7-3 win against McNeese State on Tuesday. Last weekend however, LSU suffered their first series loss to South Carolina and their first shutout of the season Sunday 4-0. O’Sullivan says especially in the SEC, each game is unpredictable.

Gators Baseball announced via Twitter Thursday morning Jonathon Crawford will take the mound for the Gators as he takes on LSU LHP Cody Glenn.

Tune in to coverage of the game starting at 7:25 on Country 103-7 The Gator with first pitch set for 7:30 ET.

LSU leads the overall series with Florida, 53-39-1, and the Tigers defeated UF in two of three games last season in Gainesville when the Gators were ranked No. 1 in the nation. Florida has won eight of the last 10 regular-season meetings between the clubs, including three-game sweeps of the Tigers in 2010 at Gainesville and in 2011 at Baton Rouge.
