** The Gator softball team is an SEC champion today and they didn’t have to play a game Sunday to do it. UF was idle as it waited for the result of the Missouri-Tennessee game which Missouri had to win for Florida to be champs and the Tigers cooperated with a 12-8 win. Next for Florida is the SEC Tournament.
** The Gator lacrosse team fell in the final of the American Lacrosse Conference Tournament but still got a number five national seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. UF will host Jacksonville and Denver in first and second round action May 10 and May 12.
** The Santa Fe Saints softball team gets a berth in the National Junior College Tournament after winning the Atlantic District Championship. The Saints head to Utah May 15-18.
** In NASCAR, David Ragan wins the race this weekend at Talladega, beating David Gilliland and Carl Edwards.
** The NBA playoffs continue as Oklahoma City nips Memphis in Game 1 of their series 93-91 while Indiana whips New York 102-95 in Game 1 of that series. Tonight, Chicago is at well rested Miami for Game 1 and Golden State is at San Antonio for Game 1.
** In MLB action, Atlanta downs New York 9-4 to improve to 18-12 on the year; the Braves play at Cincinnati today. Miami crushes Philadelphia 14-2 as the Marlins play at Arizona tonight. Tampa Bay beat Colorado 6-3 and the Rays come back home tonight to host Toronto.
