Florida starting pitcher Jonathon Crawford had an excellent start; after giving up one run, the Gators finally cracked through against the Governors as outfielder Justin Shafer hit a three run home run in the sixth inning to give the Gators a 3-1 lead.
But in the bottom of the eighth against reliever Ryan Harris, Austin Peay got a bloop hit and a single off of Harris’ leg to put two on with no one out. A ground out got the Gators a force at second but the next hitter, junior Michael Davis, hit a wind aided three run home run to give the Governors the lead.
Florida opened the ninth by getting Shafer hit by a pitch but senior Tyler Rogers got his 22nd save by getting Vickash Ramjit to hit into a double play and Josh Tobias to ground out. Florida only got five hits in the game.
