The Florida Gator Track and Field teams will begin competition today at the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon. The Gators have sent a program record 28 qualifiers to historic Hayward field, that include 14 women, 11 men, and three relay teams.
The 13 UF men (11 individuals, two relays) is the second most qualifiers in program history, and these men will look to defend their 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championship. Florida coach Mike Holloway talks about his men’s team looking for back to back titles.
Switching over to the women, the Gators have sent a program record 15 women to Eugene (14 individuals, one relay) and will be looking to better their best result at the Outdoor Championships which was a third place finish in 2010. With a plethora of Gator women competing Holloway talks about the strides they have made this season.
The competiton will extend through Saturday, June 8th.
