** The Gator men’s track team wins a national title at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon. The men tie Texas A&M for the title after the Aggies finish last in the final event of the competition while Florida won it. It is the second straight national title for the program.
** The Belmont horse race is history with 13-1 Palace Malice getting the win; race favorite Orb finished third.
** Game 2 of the NBA Finals is today as Miami hosts San Antonio down 1-0.
** The Major League Baseball Draft is now over and more Gators get drafted on the final day. Pitcher Johnny Magliozzi goes in the 17th round to the Mets while shortstop Cody Dent was taken in the 22nd round by Washingon. Pitcher Karsten Whitson was also selected by Washington in the 37th round but he is expected to return to Florida.
** The Chicago Black Hawks and the Boston Bruins will meet in the Stanley Cup Finals after Chicago beat Los Angeles to win their Western Conference Final series 4-1. Boston swept Pittsburgh in the Eastern Conference.
