Sophomore linebacker, Antonio Morrison, will be released from jail this afternoon after being arrested for simple battery early Sunday morning. According to Gainesville Police Department spokesperson, Ben Tobias, Morrison got angry and struck a bouncer who made him pay full price to get into a nightclub.
The offense is a second-class misdemeanor and Morrison admitted to being under the influence of alcohol even though he is only 19 years old.
UF spokesperson Steve McClain says Florida coach Will Muschamp is aware of Morrison’s arrest and is handling the matter.
Morrison appeared in all 13 games for the Gators this past season as a true freshman and is expected to be a big contributor on defense this upcoming season.
Morrison finished the 2012 season with 34 total tackles and one sack while earning First-Team All-SEC Freshman honors.
