** The Miami Heat are NBA champions for a second straight season after beating the San Antonio Spurs 95-88 in Game 7 of the NBA Finals Thursday night. NBA Finals MVP LeBron James led the way with 37 points and 12 rebounds.
** Santa Fe College will add women’s volleyball to its roster of sports starting next year. The school will have five sports programs.
** Former Gator Abby Wambach has broken Mia Hamm’s record for most international career goals as she scores four times in a 5-0 USA win over Korea. She has 160 career goals.
** The Gator football team gets a 2016 verbal commitment from WR/DB Tyler Byrd from Naples High School.
** In MLB action, New York tops Atlanta 4-3; Miami nips San Francisco 2-1 and Tampa Bay stops New York 8-3.
** In the College World Series, North Carolina eliminates NC State 7-0; tonight, Mississippi State faces Oregon State and UCLA faces North Carolina.
