** The USA U 19 men’s basketball team, coached by Gator head man Billy Donovan, remains unbeaten after beating Brazil 91-66 Monday; the team plays Australia today. UF guard Michael Frazier II had five points in the win.
** Former Gator Erik Murphy is formally introduced Monday as a new member of the Chicago Bulls; the team drafted him in the second round of the NBA Draft last week.
** In MLB action, Miami blanks San Diego 4-0; the Marlins start a series with Atlanta tonight. Tampa Bay’s Matt Moore won his 11th game as the Rays rout Houston 12-0; those teams play again tonight.
** As play begins in July, the unlikely duo of the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cleveland Indians might be the surprises of the league. Pittsburgh has the best record in baseball at 51-30 and the Indians lead the AL Central Division. Atlanta has the largest divisional lead of six games over second place Washington.
** NBA free agency continues as center Dwight Howard is meeting with some of his suitors; it looks like Dallas, Houston and the LA Lakers are the leading contenders for his services.
** Wimbledon continues today without women’s top seed Serena Williams who was beaten yesterday. Men’s top seed Novak Djokovic and second seed Andy Murray are winners.*
