NFL training camps will soon be opening, some NBA free agent news and MLB results as well in our Wednesday Sports News and Notes…

** It won’t be long now!   The relative dry spell in sports will be eased when NFL training camps open this month…the first is set to open in about a week!

** It is free agent time in the NBA and the Golden State Warriors are active.   After reaching agreement with free agent and former Gator Marreese Speights, the Warriors have also reached agreement with free agents Jermaine O’Neal and guard Toney Douglas.

** The NHL Hall of Fame has new inductees today.  Forward Brendan Shanahan and defensemen Chris Chelios and Scott Niedermayer are the latest inductees.

** In the MLB, Atlanta downs Miami 6-4 and the Tampa Bay Rays beat Minnesota 4-1 as the red hot Rays have now won 10 of their last 11 games.  Alex Rios had six hits for the Chicago White Sox as well as they rip Detroit 11-4.

** More MLB news…reports are out saying baseball could suspend players involved with the Biogenesis operation in Florida.   Sources are saying Milwaukee outfielder Ryan Braun could get a 100 game suspension in part because he is not cooperating in the investigation.

** The Tour de France enters stage 11 today.
