** University of Florida linebacker Antonio Morrison will miss at least the first two games of the season and is suspended from the team after being arrested for a second time in a month in downtown Gainesville. Morrison allegedly harassed and barked at an Alachua County Sherriff’s Office K-9 dog during a call at a local sports bar.
** Phil Mickelson has won the British Open for the first time in his career. On Sunday, he shot a blistering 66 to win the event by three strokes; he now has five major championships to his credit.
** Training camps around the NFL are opening up. The annual Hall of Fame game is right around the corner.
** The red hot Tampa Bay Rays complete a sweep of Toronto with a 4-3 win on Sunday. The Rays head to Boston for a first place showdown with Red Sox in a series starting today. Atlanta lost 3-1 to the Chicago White Sox and Miami lost to Milwaukee 1-0 in 13 innings. The Braves start a series with the Mets while the Marlins are in Colorado.
** Chris Froome is the winner of the 2013 Tour de France. The Brit says this win will stand to any scrutiny in light of the Lance Armstrong incidents of the past.
