Tennessee watched its three biggest offensive weapons bolt for the NFL in the off-season. Justin Hunter and Cordarrelle Patterson left two big holes at the wide receiver position, and big-arm quarterback Tyler Bray is now a Kansas City Chief.
The Vols finished last season with a win against Kentucky, but it’s hard to stay positive when your team’s record is 5-7. It’s even harder to remain chipper when you’re 1-7 against the Southeastern Conference.
So when new Vols coach Butch Jones attended the 2013 SEC Media Days, he tried to reassure that Tennessee is in it to win it.
Jones says he wants the Vols to return to the top of college football.
Thinking like winners is something Jones believes his players must start to do right now.
Another area Jones will address is to help his team get mentally stronger.
Jones says his team has to buckle down and stay committed to getting better.
Tennessee will start the season at home versus Austin Peay August 31.
