It’s been three years since Cam Newton led Auburn to a BCS National Championship. Since then Gus Malzahn has taken over for Gene Chizik as the head coach of the Tigers, and Auburn fans have watched rival Alabama go on yet another tear.
Auburn’s season saw the curtains come down on a 3-9 record, but being 0-8 against teams in the Southeastern Conference is even worse.
Malzahn is starting his first year as the Tigers’ head coach in a precise manner. When he spoke at the 2013 SEC Media Days, he was clear and concise about how his team will be run.
Malzahn says his offense has to be the fastest in college football.
Malzahn says he’s been recruiting players who fit perfectly within his scheme.
Malzahn says he wants his defense to be equally fast and agile.
Becoming better each day as a team is necessary to become elite according to Malzahn.
Auburn will get Washington State to kick off the season on August 31.
