Vanderbilt head football coach James Franklin came to Vanderbilt after a rough 2010 season where the Commodores went 2-10 and didn’t win a single game in the SEC. The next year, Franklin led the team to a 6-7 record and last year led them to a 9-4 record with a bowl game win over North Carolina State.
The Commodores also hit a few milestones on their way to those nine wins this past season. They had their first 3,000 yard career rusher in Zac Stacy, longest win streak (7) since 1948, and their first nine win season since 1915.
Franklin is comfortable with the media by now and is excited about the amount of meida coverage his team receives.
The Commodores will start their season on a Thursday night against SEC foe Ole Miss and Franklin says that’s just the way he likes it.
Despite the success, Franklin knows how difficult it is to recruit at the only private school in the SEC and to win as well.
Vanderbilt will open its season on Thursday, August 29.
