**Former Gator pitcher Nick Maronde has been called up by the Los Angeles Angels. The lefty has been called up to the big leagues a couple of other times as well but has always been sent back down to the minors.
** Former Gator wide receiver Omarius Hines has signed a free agent deal with the Green Bay Packers; he had been signed and cut by Baltimore previously.
** In MLB action, Tampa Bay reclaims first place in the AL East with a 2-1 win over Boston; the Rays begin a series at home against Arizona while the Red Sox host Seattle. Atlanta beats Colorado 9-8 and Miami loses to the NY Mets 6-5.
** The Rays have acquired reliever Jesse Crain from the Chicago White Sox for either cash or a player to be named later. The MLB trading deadline is tomorrow.
